Adult Learning
When your loved one reaches adulthood, learning does not stop - it evolves. At MINDS, adult learning is designed to build life skills, enabling persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to discover what independence means and explore new areas of personal growth.

Overview
Our programmes are centred on empowering persons with IDD to lead lives filled with purpose, health, and inclusion. With a focus on daily living skills, we strive to help them gain independence and thrive in their communities.
Through personalised learning approaches, your loved one can gain practical skills, grow in confidence, and engage more fully with the world around them. As caregiver, you too can experience the joy of lifelong learning - seeing your loved one grow and thrive when they feel supported and validated.
Key Curriculum
Grounded in the belief that every individual with IDD has talents and strengths that can be nurtured, MINDS offers a continuum of programmes to enhance their quality of life. Every module is designed with your loved one’s needs, abilities, and aspirations in mind, enabling them to learn and thrive at their own pace.
Our modules will equip your loved one with essential life skills, nurture their social emotional and vocational competencies, and build practical knowledge for daily living, fostering greater independence, inclusion, and an improved quality of life.
Activities of Daily Living
Essential self-care skills such as grooming, dressing, toileting, and feeding are taught to promote daily independence and personal well-being.
Behaviour and Stress Management
Strategies are introduced to help them understand their emotions, manage stress, and build resilience to navigate daily challenges.
Communication and Social Relationships
This module aims to enhance their interpersonal and communication skills, nurturing their ability to form and maintain genuine relationships within the community.
Community Access and Mobility
From wayfinding to using public transport, this module develops the confidence and skills needed to travel safely and independently in the community.
Functional Academics
Practical skills like literacy, numeracy, and time management are taught to help your loved one apply them effectively in everyday situations.
Health and Nutrition
Your loved one will develop healthy habits, gain an understanding of illness and mental health, and learn basic first aid and how to access healthcare services.
Home Management
Your loved one will learn how to manage household tasks such as cleaning, doing laundry, and basic home maintenance, encouraging confidence and greater independence at home.
In addition to the core modules, we offer elective and interest-based options to further enrich your loved one’s learning experience. Whether it is vocational training, social skills development or exploring new hobbies, these pathways create opportunities for employment, community involvement, and meaningful self-expression.
This balanced approach of personalised learning, social-emotional development, and job-oriented training will equip your loved one with greater competencies to lead a more independent, goal-driven life.
