A big HELLO from MINDS Ang Mo Kio Training & Development Centre (ATDC)!
ATDC is one of the pioneer Day Activity Centres in Singapore, set up in 1992 to serve adults with intellectual disability and other neurodevelopmental conditions. We believe in the mission to enable and empower our clients to pursue quality of life through engagement in meaningful activities and relationships. This mission is driven by a team of committed and qualified Training Officers and allied health professionals, collaborating closely with family members, support staff, community partners, individual and corporate volunteers, to deliver a person-centred programme customised to the unique needs of each and every client served.
As persons with ID often require higher support to perform daily living activities, the quality of assistance rendered and activities planned play a critical role in shaping their engagement, relationships, well-being, and ultimately quality of life. Active Support is a model of approach aimed to address this, with empirical research findings of increased activity engagement, increased social interactions, improvements in adaptive behaviours, and reduction in behaviours of concern. ATDC is one of the pioneer centres in Singapore to embrace Active Support both as a programme and a philosophy in the care for our clients. At ATDC, volunteers also play an important role in providing one-to-one assistance for our clients. They also bring new activities into the programme for more variety in choice-making. Volunteers also help to forge meaningful relationships with our beneficiaries for community integration. We welcome both individual and corporate volunteers on ad-hoc and regular basis. Based on positive feedback from schools, institutions, and organisations that have volunteered with us, the community service experience has been helpful in team-building, leadership development, personal growth and rehabilitation, and fulfilling a higher sense of purpose in serving the community.
For parents and caregivers of children with special needs that are enrolled with ATDC or planning to be enrolled with ATDC, we assure you that your child is in good hands. We give you our promise and commitment that we are here to serve. Let us walk this journey of caregiving together with you.
Warmly,
MINDS ATDC aims to provide clients with the skills to facilitate social integration and where possible, prepare them for the everchanging environment of Singapore.
Centre programmes are also supported by Allied Health Professionals such as social workers, psychologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and medicare consultants. Apart from focusing on the development and well-being of our clients, MINDS ATDC also strives to foster family involvement and community partnerships through collaborations.
At MINDS ATDC, clients enhanced their Quality of Life which can be categorised under various domains of social interaction, play and leisure and emotional and physical well-being.
Would you like to get to know us better?
Perhaps to volunteer your time, skills, or celebrate the lives of our beneficiaries with your contributions.
