Weekday Centre Based Volunteer

Key Responsibilities :
We are looking for volunteers to support the running of activities such as Project Engage, Morning Walks and more!

Morning Walk Befrienders:

Volunteers are required to:
  1. Befriend and accompany clients during morning walks
  2. Ensure safety of clients
  3. Physically support clients with uneven gait
  4. Support in handing out (not feeding) morning tea break after the walks

Project Engage Volunteers:
  1. For 1.5 to 2 hours every week, PWIDs engage in activities of their choice
  2. They get to choose 1 out of 3 activities through picture cards and they will engage in the chosen activity i.e. baking, yoga, craft, speech and drama, drumming, reading, etc.
  3. PWIDs are then engaged via principles of Active Support:
    • Maximising choice and control
    • Every moment has potential
    • Graded assistance
    • Little and Often
  4. Volunters will support MINDS Training Officer to ensure that clients are engaged in the activities, and help in packing and cleaning up.
Time:
Morning Walks:
1 hour during weekday morning

Project Engage:
2 hours between 10.30am to 3.30pm depending on centre
Frequency:
Weekly on weekdays
Minimum Length of Service:
At least 2 months
Requirement:
– An open mind to serve our clients and learn from our MINDS Training Officers
– Minimum 16 years old
Training:
  1. Volunteer Onboarding and Orientation
  2. Volunteer Debrief by our TOs
  3. Role-Based Trainings
  4. Guidance by our TOs and experienced volunteers
  5. Regular check ins by MINDS staff
