ABOUT WOODLANDS GARDENS SCHOOL
The school started more than 36 years ago on October 1968. At that time Mrs. Dorothy Williams began providing services to 13 children and youth at Jurong Centre within the premises of Jurong Christian Church and Civic Centre.
It was then adopted by then Singapore Association of Retarded Children (SARC) in 1969 headed by Ms Clare Goh. Ten years later, the centre moved out to Block 28 Teban Gardens and was officially opened on 14 September 1980.
In 1985 the school moved into the former Jurong Primary School at 19.7km Hong Kah Circle. It was renamed Jurong Gardens School with enrolment stood at 192 pupils.
In 1991, the school moved to Jalan Seh Chuan off Bukit Timah Road. The enrolments slowly increase to a maximum of 300 pupils by mid 90s.
On 30 June 2008, with an estimated redevelopment construction cost of $6millions, the school then renamed to WOODLANDS GARDENS SCHOOL moved into its new premises at Woodlands Ring Road. The redevelopment also includes the co-location of one of the MINDS Employment Development Centre (WEDC) within the same premises.
