FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ON ADMISSIONS TO MINDS' SPECIAL SCHOOLS
1. How can my child be admitted to MINDS' School?
Parents can bring their child to any of the following for an assessment on their suitability for MINDS' services. If they are suitable, the clinics will prepare a referral, fill in the application form, and preapre the medical and psychological reports, and send them directly to MINDS HQ. We will then process the applications and disseminate the referral to the school nearest to the applicant, and the social worker at the school will follow up with admissions interviews.

2. What are the admissions criteria?
MINDS Special Schools provide special education to children with intellectual
disability, aged 4 to 18 years.
Admission is open to any child with intellectual disability who has at least one parent
who is
- Singaporean OR A Permanent Resident OR
- An Employment Pass Holder OR A Three-year Permit Holder (Admission is subjected to approval from the Ministry of Education.)
The Clinics mentioned above would assist to assess the suitability.
Admission into MINDS’ Special Schools is subjected to the availability
of vacancies.
3. How much is the school fees?
The school fees amount to $14 per month ($10 for school fees and $4 for supplementary fees)
4. What are the hours? Does the school provide meals?
All the schools operate 2 sessions - AM and PM.
The school terms and vacations are in accordance to the school terms and vacations
of MOE primary schools.
Lunch is not provided, but the children are provided snacks.
5. Does MINDS provide therapy for the children?
Yes, some schools have physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech therapists, but if you require more intensive one to one service, you may wish to obtain the services from external sources.
6. Are there school bus services?
Yes, but this is a private arrangement between parents and the bus operators. Once admitted, the school can help to arrange.
