As the needs of Persons with Intellectual Disability (PWIDs) evolve, caregivers and families face increasing challenges such as limited access to services and rising transportation costs. To address these challenges, MINDS has revamped its post-18 service model, from a programme-centric approach to a person-centred model that prioritises the unique needs of each individual.
Starting from 1 April 2025, MINDS Centres will be reorganised to become a one-stop hub. We will provide a multitude of services progressively, offering multi-service pathways to meet the varying needs of PWIDs and their families. More importantly, they will be able to receive the services from a centre closest to their residence.
In line with this change, our Employment Development Centres will be renamed Regional Hubs, Training and Development Centres will be renamed Community Hubs, and MINDS Hubs will be renamed as Satellite Hubs. Each Hub will be supported by our Allied Health Professionals and offer spaces and activities to encourage greater community engagement and involvement. By March 2027, MINDS aims to have the new service model fully operational at all Hubs across Singapore.
