Training officer's core responsibility is to empower the intellectually disabled youths and adults with skill sets that enable them to function independently in activities of daily living. Activities of daily living refer to the ability to function with independence meaningfully in self-maintenance tasks, social interactions and competitive employment. Training Officers must have the ability to multi task in managing their daily responsibilities, which include duties from curriculum planning, training delivery to business development activities.
Training Officer Job ScopeTraining officers' job scope involves the delivery of a variety of training programs in specific life skills, functional academia, vocational training, socio-recreational activities etc. The training is delivered via daily instructional classroom training and practical activities of performing arts, crafts development, contract work, sports, in-house business projects and job site-specific training. They develop individualised training plans so as to ensure that programs are specifically tailored to meet the special needs of the intellectually disabled person.
The minimum job entry requirements of training officers are A levels, where they further undergo specific on job and relevant academic courses on disabilities.
