Occupational Therapists
The Occupational Therapist is qualified to look into:
- Underlying sensory issues hindering development.
- Self-Care : Dressing, feeding, bathing, and hygiene skills.
- Cognition and Perception : Memory, puzzle, attention, and visual processing skills.
- Fine Motor Skills : Manipulative skills, pre-writing and handwriting skills, and using scissors.
- Gross Motor Skills : Eye-hand coordination, balance, spatial awareness, and coordination of 2 body sides.
- Appropriate placement of clients in workstations within MINDS Employment Development Centres.
- Work/Job skills training and matching job placements in the open market.
Occupational Therapists must have a Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy from any tertiary institution recognised by WFOT (World Federation of Occupational Therapy).
At MINDS, we
- Screen and assess clients with learning difficulties and sensory integration dysfunction (where the brain fails to process completely the information it receives through the senses).
- Evaluate a client's skills in play/leisure, self-care, school/work performance, and community living, then compare them to what is developmentally appropriate for 9an age group.
- Plan and carry out individualized or group treatment programs most suited to the functional needs of the client.
- Help clients achieve maximum independence in daily living activities.
- Recommend assistive devices or adaptation to the environment when required.
- Collaborate and consult with other professionals.
- Provide education and training to the public, staff, and caregivers.
