Service Model
MINDSville@Napiri seeks to adopt a training and developmental model, focusing on acquisition of daily living skills and self-empowerment of clients. We also aim to offer activities that address the physical, social, emotional and cognitive needs of clients, supporting them in developng their potential and reintegration into their families and the community.
Services
We offer the following services:
- Long term stay (more than 3 months) and short-term stay (less than 3 months) for persons with intellectual disability who are either destitute, neglected/abused or whose caregivers are unavailable or unable to continue caring for them effectively.
- Respite care (less than 2 weeks) for persons with intellectual disability to support families to tie over emergencies or difficult times.
Multi-disciplinary Team
An integrated case management approach is adopted for our clients. Our staff aims to work collaboratively with families and signicant others of the clients to formulate an Individual Care or Training Plan for each client. The document will chart and monitor the developmental progress of each client and enable staff to plan appropriate interventions.
Our multi-disciplinary team of professional staff includes the following:
Physiotherapist
Provides electrotherapy, exercise therapy, aerobics and gait training to give clients a reasonable quality of life within their limitations. The foci are to improve, restore, maintain their normal strength; enhance endurance, cardiovascular fitness, mobility, flexibility, relaxation, co-ordination and motor skills.
Occupational Therapist
Carries out individually structured as well as group sessions to develop sensory and perceptual motor skills, purposeful hand function and social skills. These work towards improving and maintaining the clients' independent living skills.
Psychologist
Designs programmes that target at improving communication, interaction, motivation and memory retention. They learn through cognitive stimulation exercises and free-play.
Social WorkerProvides counselling and support to families in need as well as assess the family's financial situation and provide assistance when necessary.
Nurses
As the main caregivers, nurses care for clients' nursing needs by giving close observation and supervision. Timely intervention can be provided to help alleviate medical problems through administering medicine and sending clients for immediate treatment at clinics or hospital. Nurses also provide assistance to clients in activities of daily living such as bathing, feeding and grooming.
