thrift stores named MINDS Shop, where we provide pre-vocational training
to our clients in retail and customer service. Each store carries a unique
range of carefully selected furniture, clothes, collectibles and house
wares that we think deserve a new lease of life. We strive to create an
enjoyable shopping experience for our customers by ensuring that our goods
are value-for-money and constantly updated.
MINDS Shop Plus – a community shop for the community
In 2012, MINDS partnered NTUC Healthcare (previously known as NTUC Eldercare) to open a thrift store in the Redhill community. The main objective was to have matured workers partnering our MINDS clients to operate a thrift store. We believe that the former would be a good mentor for our clients as they were more patient. Matured workers would also be more sympathetic towards the challenges our clients face as they themselves could be discriminated for taking a longer time to adapt to new tasks.
MINDS Shop Plus also prepares our clients for full time employment in the open market. We build up their endurance and soft skills as they learn to travel independently to work and also work shift hours including weekends. The clients go through this phase in a semi-supported environment as the matured workers are also trained to guide persons with special needs.

How you can help
By shopping at MINDS Shop, you not only empower our clients through meaningful work engagement, you are also doing your part to save the environment! You can also help us by donating your pre-loved goods at the above locations.
What can I donate?
There are some items that we are unable to accept such as used undergarments, used swimwear, alcohol, cigars, cigarettes, books, film/print material or artefacts of offensive nature (e.g. religious intolerance, pornography, titles banned in Singapore) and imitation goods. Besides that, we accept all items that are in usable, good condition – such as clothes, bags, books, small furniture, household items, toys and more. A basic guideline would be to see if you would buy the item and use it for yourself.
We welcome companies who would like to organise a company-wide collection from your staff. We are able to provide transportation to pick up those items based on advanced planning. Please contact the below personnel for more information:
