The Appropriate Adult (AA) Service provides support to Singapore Police Force (SPF), Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) and Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) during the investigating interviews involving detainees, victims or witnesses suspected of having Intellectual Disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or Mental Health issues.

The AA trained volunteers act as a bridge to facilitate the interview process between the Investigation Officer (IO) and Persons with Intellectual Disability (PWID), ASD or mental health issues, enabling them to understand IOsí queries and communicate more effectively. With effect from January 2017, both AVA and CNB have embarked on the scheme utilising the AA service. This service is the national contact point for the activation of AA volunteers served.
