The Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore (MINDS) was founded in May 1962 by a group of philanthropists who saw the need to provide equal opportunities for children with intellectual disabilities to receive education and later, to be integrated as contributing and responsible citizens in Singapore.

Since then, MINDS has grown to become one of the oldest and largest non-governmental organisations catering to the needs of persons with intellectual disability (PWIDs) in Singapore.

We run 4 Special Education Schools; 3 Employment Development Centres (EDCs); 8 Training and Development Centres (TDCs); 2 Homes (one for adults, one for children); 1 Hostel (for adults), and a Caregivers Support Centre and home-based care services to cater to the educational, vocational, social and welfare needs of people with intellectual disability. MINDS also runs the Me Too! Club, a befriending programme to PWIDs who are socially isolated or are unable to participate in community-based services. Since the start of 2016, MINDS was appointed by the National Council for Social Service (NCSS) as the service administrators for the Appropriate Adult (AA) programme which provides support to persons with intellectual disability or mental illness for interviews/investigations.

To further complete our services and ensure sustainable employment opportunities for our clients, we also have our own Allied Health Professionals and Social Enterprise Department.
